WISI Extends Its Compact HEADEND OH System By The Twin A/V Encoder OH 66
WISI Communications GmbH & Co. KG (WISI) has extended its successful WISI Compact HEADEND OH by the Twin A/V Encoder OH 66.
The new module widens the field of application and flexibility of this extremely efficient and future-proof headend system. OH is the ideal introduction to flexible signal processing for flats, hotels, small cable nets, leisure complexes, hospitals etc. With the large variety of modules available, it allows the user to set up cost-effective headends for small community systems.
The Twin A/V Encoder OH 66 has two analogue video and Stereo/Audio inputs or two digital SDI inputs. In the output range from 47 to 862 MHz the operator of the headend has the choice between the modulation in QAM or COFDM (available Q 4,/2012). The modulation in COFDM in particular is interesting for systems in hotels supplying flat screens with an integrated DVB-T tuner.
The Compact HEADEND OH offers powerful technology, has compact dimensions, is modular, flexibly expandable and is pre-equipped both for installation in a 19” rack and at the wall. Basic unit OH 50 offers slots for up to 14 modules. This allows an optimized channel processing of up to 14 analogue TV channels or rather 28 digital transponder streams. OH 50 has a thermally optimized housing, an integrated FM amplifier, high output power, an Ethernet interface for remote monitoring and allows easy programming with an OH 41 handset. A system update and pre-programming is possible via USB stick.
The system offers a number of different modules to equip the basic unit. OH 85H is a twin DVB-S/S2 -QAM transmodulator with two embedded CI interfaces. It receives two DVB-S/S2 signals and transmodulates these into two QAM TV channels. The twin module OH 85 receives two DVB-S signals and transmodulates these into two QAM TV channels. The twin DVB-S/S2 – COFDM transmodulator OH 88H also has two CI built-in interfaces. It can receive two DVB-S/S2 signals and transmodulates these into two COFDM TV channels. OH 89 is a twin DVB-T/C transmodulator. This module can receive two DVB-T/C signals and transmodulates these into two COFDM TV channels (bonded). AV-Modulator OH 38 is also a twin module. This stereo capable vestigial sideband modulator is independently adjustable in 250 kHz steps and modulates 2 AV signals into two analogue TV channels.
The system also offers three transcoder modules for the analog processing. OH 76 can receive a DVB-S signal and processes it to an analogue TV channel. This module demultiplexes and decodes via a built-in CI interface MPEG-2 signals. OH 77 receives a DVB-S/S2 signal and processes it to an analogue TV channel. This module demultiplexes and decodes via an embedded CI interface MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 signals. In addition it has an NICAM encoder. OH 79 receives a DVB-T signal and processes it to an analogue TV channel. Also this module demultiplexes and decodes via its in-build CI interface MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 signals and has a NICAM audio processing. All three transcoders have a vestigial sideband modulator. The RF converter OH 45 converts one analogue TV channel in the range of 45 – 862 MHz, has a high IF selection via two SAW filters, and thereby allows adjacent channel operation at the input and output.
WISI also offers accessories for the new OH system. WIZARD is for configuring the OH 50 basic unit and the modules using a PC. The settings are uploaded to the basic unit through the USB interface using an USB stick. This guarantees a fast and easy startup of the system. Remote monitoring module OH 51 completes the headend system OH.
