GE Acquires Leak Detection Sensor Manufacturer, Naxys
GE declared that it has signed an agreement to acquire Naxys, a supplier of passive acoustic technology-based subsea leak detection and condition monitoring sensors.
Under the agreement, GE’s Measurement & Control Solutions will be expanded in the subsea space and both the companies will be dedicated to innovation and technology.
With regulatory approval and customary closing conditions underway, this acquisition will promote GE’s monitoring and sensing solutions to be integrated within GE’s Measurement & Control business. This deal enables GE to have a powerful hold in Norway. Based in Bergen, Norway, Naxys operates with 31 employees.
GE’s sensing and condition monitoring offerings will be further expanded with the inclusion of Naxys. Furthermore, GE will have a more extensive position in the subsea space, thereby benefiting global energy customers.
Naxys manufactures and delivers passive acoustic hydrophone technology-based leak detection and condition monitoring sensors. The sensing element’s configuration ensures measuring subsea acoustics both precisely and sensitively. Operators use Naxys’ products for scrutinizing the integrity and reliability of their subsea installations.
On August 1, PRESENS was acquired by greater Boston area-based GE’s Measurement & Control business, which is well-established in developing and delivering sensor-based measurement, asset condition monitoring, inspection, controls and radiation measurement solutions with increased efficiency, precision and safety for industries such as healthcare, oil and gas, power generation, transportation, and aerospace. The business forms a division of GE Oil & Gas, operating in over 40 facilities in 25 countries.
