AppliedSensor to Debut Intelligent Air Quality Duct Kit at Sensor + Test 2012

AppliedSensor, a company specializing in chemical sensor components, will unveil an intelligent air quality duct kit (iAQ-Duct Kit) that allows a complete air duct sensor to get integrated with a demand-controlled ventilation (DCV) system.

The new iAQ-Duct Kit features an MOS sensor, an iAQ-2000 controller board, and a ready-made connection cable. The MOS sensor employs micro-electronic mechanical systems metal oxide semiconductor sensing technology to determine the presence of a wide variety of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in air. The sensor is mounted over a TO-39 header with a protective diffusion membrane and a cap. Its design facilitates probe tip integration. The controller can be placed in exterior housing and linked to the sensor through the tailored cable.

According to Heiko Ulmer, Director of Marketing and Sales at AppliedSensor, several studies confirm that certain VOCs may affect the health of a person. There are a few number of mixed gas duct sensors available in the market. However, this is a first-of-its-kind product with a capability to sense VOCs calibrated in terms of CO2-equivalents. The iAQ-Duct Kit is not only conveniently designed but it can also be utilized in numerous energy-saving HVAC applications such as DCV.

AppliedSensor will market the iAQ-Duct Kit to OEMs. The company will display the product at Sensor + Test 2012, which will be held from May 22 to 24, 2012 in Nürnberg, Germany. Around 600 exhibitors will display their products at the trade fair and over 8,000 participants from nearly 30 countries are expected to attend the event.

The AEMC L104 device features wireless Bluetooth data communication that enables real-time viewing of measurements, data transfer, data storage, and configuration of the device . Standard alkaline batteries provide operation for around 180 days.
