Honeywell Upgrades Zephyr Airflow Sensors with Additional Flow Ranges

Honeywell has upgraded its Zephyr range of airflow sensors with four additional flow ranges that offer higher sensitivity at lower flow rates, making the Zephyr airflow sensors ideal for industrial and medical applications.

The Zephyr sensors have been designed to detect mass flow of non-corrosive gases and air. The additional four flow ranges between ±50 SCCM and ±750 SCCM (standard cubic cm/min) enables the sensors to reduce system wear of medical pumps and motors and identify low-pressure drops that impacts the comfort of the patient. Low flow range in industrial applications leads to performance optimization in clogged HVAC air filter and gas leak detection. In addition to four new flow ranges, Honeywell has also added a short port fastener mount and a new housing style.

The Director – global product marketing at Honeywell, AJ Smith stated that the additional airflow ranges provides customers with wider options for the integration of the sensor along with the opportunity to customize the sensor to suit the needs of their application.

The Zephyr analog and digital airflow sensors now offer increased stability to reduce errors caused by null shift and thermal effects,a low total error band of ±2.25 %FSS and linear output to reduce design, implementation and production costs. The medical applications of the Honeywell Zephyr sensors include hospital diagnostics, spirometers, ventilators, patient monitoring, oxygen concentrators and anesthesia. Its industrial applications include meteorology, HVAC filters, gas meters, gas leak detection, fuel cells, chromatography and spectrometry.

Headquartered in Golden Valley, Minnesota, Honeywell manufactures switches, sensors and control products for industrial, aviation, consumer, IT and automotive applications.
