Draeger declared the VG2 release of its innovative Infinity Acute Care System monitoring solution.

It provides wireless surveillance, land ambulance transport, interoperability with ventilation systems of Draeger, and Masimo rainbow SET technology. Draeger is a monitoring vendor that delivers a full line of Masimo's rainbow SET noninvasive Pulse CO-Oximetry measurements that promote safety and cost-efficiency in hospitals.

The monitoring solution includes a handheld Infinity M540 patient monitor equipped to the Draeger Medical Cockpit. The M540 enables consistent transition from the bedside to wireless transport. The vital signs data from M540 has been integrated into the Medical Cockpit along with networked information including lab results, patient history, and diagnostic images. Additionally, networked clinical information will be integrated into single widescreen display at the point of care.

With the help of the VG2 release, the ventilation parameters from Draeger ventilators will be displayed on the Medical Cockpit and transmitted across the network.

This fully networked solution enables a single monitor to escort the patient safely along the care pathway. While being undocked at the bedside, Infinity M540 will automatically turn to wireless, thereby broadcasting patient’s vital signs data to the Infinity Network giving rise to continual monitoring at the time of transport on the Infinity CentralStation. It also supports time-critical decision making by directing the flow of patient information within the hospital and beyond.

The Infinity M540 uses Masimo rainbow SET technology. Masimo rainbow SET measures SpO(2), total hemoglobin (SpHb), methemoglobin (SpMet), pulse rate, perfusion index (PI), oxygen content (SpOC), Pleth Variability Index (PVI), and carboxyhemoglobin (SpCO).

Monitoring SpHb enables clinicians to quickly evaluate the hemoglobin level of a patient. It helps minimize unwanted blood transfusions and associated expenditures. The SpCO and SpMet facilitate precise measurement of potentially life-threatening carbon monoxide (CO) and methemoglobin levels in the blood. PVI enables clinicians to examine a patient's fluid responsiveness and volume status.

Masimo rainbow SET technology provides instant clinical information, minimizing the cost of expensive lab tests and the risk of cross-contamination and blood exposure.
