Siemens Develops Sensor-Based Extractive Gas Analyzers

Siemens Industry Automation Division has developed the Siprocess GA700 series, an innovative platform concept-based extractive gas analyzer family.

The Siprocess GA700 basic analyzer with rack or wall mounting configuration attachment includes two analyzer modules. Instead of replacing the basic device, a simpler and user-friendly module replacement can be achieved on site. The set parameters for measurement will automatically reach the replacement module from the basic device. These temperature-controlled modules ensure simple and rapid replacement without continual temperature recording. The modules function independently sans ambient temperature variations, resulting in extremely stable measurements. The modules include uniform operating concept and are ideal for ambient temperatures up to 500C. It also includes a local user interface with display and keyboard. Measured values can be visualized in analog and digital forms through high-resolution graphic display. The operating software has been modified and is available in 12 languages, supporting worldwide application. The modules operate to provide the basis for predictive maintenance concepts such as calibration requirements, signal servicing intervals, or residual lifetime of parts prone to wear.

Based on paramagnetic alternating pressure principle, the new Oxymat module can ensure oxygen measurement. In addition, it also enables measurement of corrosive gas mixtures. Without contacting sample gas, the detector unit facilitates measurement and therefore ideal for application in harsh environments. The Oxymat module provides absolute linearity where small measuring ranges can be selected in one device such as 0 to 0.5% with a detection limit of 50 ppm, and 0 to 100 and 99.5 to 100%.

An Ultramat module can measure infrared-active gases, while Calomat module measures hydrogen and noble gases.

Extractive gas analyzers are deployed in process plants for resolving the concentrations of gases.

A series of circuits ranging from simple low-accuracy versions to more complex models that can return improved data have been developed by the research team.
