InvenSense has unveiled the first-of-its-kind high-performance single-chip integrated 3-axis industrial gyroscope called the MPU-3300, which is 10X smaller when compared to existing industrial gyroscopes.

Industrial product designers can achieve optimal level of axis alignment as they can effortlessly integrate the MPU-3300 into their devices when compared to assembling of three separate gyroscope devices. Moreover, this 3-axis industrial gyroscope delivers over 100% lower noise than competitive products, thus enabling precise measurements for key industrial applications.

The MPU-3300 has a plant-calibrated monolithic 3-axis gyroscope housed in a compact 4x4x0.9 mm QFN package, which facilitates positioning, arrangement and calibration tasks to get easily integrated with space-constrained products. Its operating temperature range is between −40°C and +105°C, thus suitable for adverse industrial conditions. It has ±2% sensitivity scale factor variation and ±0.14 dps/°C zero-rate output variation for this temperature range. It demonstrates a noise performance of 0.005dps/ÖHz, a better value when compared to competitive industrial gyroscopes’ performance of 0.01-0.03 dps/ÖHz.

In addition, the single-chip integrated 3-axis gyroscope features an embedded temperature sensor, programmable digital filters, high-resolution 16-bit analog-to-digital converters, and I2C and SPI interfaces. With 15 degrees/hour bias instability, the MPU-3300 is ideal for industrial applications such as attitude heading reference systems, which need highly reliable performance for accurate-attitude tracking. This high-precision gyroscope finds use in navigation systems of ships, aircrafts, and industrial vehicles. It is suitable for industrial instruments like hand-held inventory control devices, as it consumes below 10 mW of power.

The MPU-3300 also finds use in applications, including construction equipment, guidance and steering products, precision agricultural machinery, unmanned aerial vehicles, industrial power tools, factory equipment, survey instruments, inventory control systems, precision robotics and antenna stabilization.
